Eyelid Tightening/ Lift (Non-surgical Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid Tightening / Lift (Non-surgical blepharoplasty) is an effective alternative to corrective surgery to reduce sagging upper eyelid and under eyes bags. This is one of the most common surgical procedures performed due to the eyelid and under eye area being one of the thinnest areas of skin and most active areas on the face. Eyelid tightening through the use of Sublative RF technology a safer and as effective as surgery. It is also a walk-in and walk-out procedure with zero downtime unlike the long uncomfortable recovery time from surgery.

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure where the surgeon removes skin from the upper eyelid and/or under the eye to correct sagging eyelids and under eye bags. The skin is very thin in these areas so the surgery is very complex and inherently potentially riskier. If performed incorrectly the patient can have tight skin restricting the ability to close the eyes and other eye functions.

Sublative RF Technology Treating Sagging Eyelids, Under Eye Bags and Crows Feet

Radio Frequency (RF) travels through the skin disrupting only 5% of the epidermis while sending all the energy into the lower epidermis and top of the dermis. The energy stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which in turn tighten the treated area. When treating the eyelids the tightening effect lifts the sagging skin.

When treating the under eye bags the skin tightening and visible signs of the bags reduce. When treating crows feet the skin renew to reduce the fine and deep lines.

Safer than Plasma Pen

Sublative RF is safer than the Plasma Pen treatment. Plasma Pen uses plasma to ablate (remove) the top layers of the dermis. This creates trauma and downtime. As the skin is very thin there is very little room for error and if performed too aggressively the treat area will swell up, or worse, the texture of the skin is compromised.

While the Sublative RF treatment sends the energy into the epidermis and targets the top later of the dermis. The treatment is non-ablative and fractionated. This means the surface of the skin is intact and fractionated nature of the energy means healthy undamaged cells increases the speed of recovery.

The Science Behind SublativeTM Skin Rejuvenation

The basic theory behind SublativeTM fractional RF device is that the heat generated by the RF destroys microscopic sections of scarred skin. Fractionate profile of the RF is important due to the ability to leave healthy cells in between the grid of damaged cells. The healthy cells speed up the wound process that causes cell growth and collagen production. When the energy is applied to the skin, it creates controlled microscopic damage in the dermis.
Sublative energy

Once injured, an inflammatory response is induced, the body is sends fibroblast to the area and collagen and elastin is created. This is the exact wound healing process that is essential in repairing acne scar made possible by the destroyed scar tissue being replaced with new collagen and elastin producing cells. Fractionated radiofrequency (RF) behaves like an electrical current. The sender electrode emits the RF energy and the receiver electrode receives the energy to complete the circuit. The same as electrical current it returns in a path of least resistance. The RF energy only disrupts only 5% of the epidermis, with most of the energy penetrating deep in the dermis where it is needed. In effect, it is creating the heat from the inside where the wound healing is required. As a result, healing is rapid with little surface damage and down-time is minimal.

Eyelid Tightening Frequently Asked Questions

How does a treatment feel?

Under the lower to medium settings the feeling is similar to very light pinpricks on the skin. Over the counter anaesthetic cream will be applied to reduce the discomfort under the highest setting. Sublative treatment around the eye area would normally only take 15 to 30 minutes.

How often should I have treatments?

4 treatments are required with 4-5 week intervals apart, but the total number of treatments will depend on the skin condition of the patient and how many areas need to be treated.

What is the downtime after a treatment?

There is no downtime with SublativeTM treatment. The skin will have very tiny pinhole like marks where the treatment occurred. The skin will have redness similar to light sunburn. This redness calms down within 24 hours and the small marks can be covered up with tinted moisturiser. You can return to work the same day and return to active exercise the next day.

How much do SublativeTM treatment(s) cost?

The cost of eyelid tightening is $800 (series x 4).
